My
Garden
Journey

A legacy of gardening

I grew up in Florida where my grandparents farmed the land and sold their goods at the curb market every week. I can still remember my grandma talking to customers and shelling peas at the same time. Also, my parents had a garden and at a young age I learned the value of hard work, and I definitely knew where my food came from.

21 years ago I marred a North Carolina man and shortly after started a small garden in our backyard. The hard clay soil was much different than the Florida sand I grew up with. It took years of tilling and pulling crab grass out to develop a nice plot.

Each year I learned a little more. My husband helped me add cattle panels for support and to trellis vegetables. Raised beds and GreenStalks to lessen the load of pulling weeds. I learned to compost, added some chickens and now I have rich soil to grow vegetables in.

A few years ago I starting studying herbs and I am continuing to learn more about the benefits they provide in keeping my body healthy God's way. I am now adding more herbs to my garden  so that I can make my own teas, tinctures and other goodies.

Each season has new challenges, but I continue to learn and develop what works best for my garden. It’s the same in my personal life. Life is challenging but each day I seek to be more like Jesus by tending to my heart through prayer and reading God’s word.

Jesus is the Master Gardener. Ultimately, He brings the harvest both in my garden and in my life.
